MATERIAL & SURFACE SCANNING

Material & Surface Scanning

We do not scan the object. We scan what it is made of.

From the real sample to the digital material.

The METIS DRS 2020 DCS scanner captures surface colour, reflectance and structure at ultra-high resolution. METIS software processes the captured data and produces the PBR maps required to digitally reconstruct the material’s behaviour.

GLAB manages the complete project: sample preparation, capture, verification, processing within the METIS workflow and delivery of files ready for rendering, configurators and 3D visualisation.

Send the sample. Receive the digital material.

Technology in the laboratory

METIS DRS 2020 DCS

This is the instrument used to capture the physical sample. Its synchronised lighting system reads colour and surface response separately.

PBR · METIS WORKFLOW

One material, all the information it needs.

After scanning, METIS software generates the maps required to digitally recreate the appearance and behaviour of the surface: colour, relief, gloss, transparency and reflections. GLAB checks and processes the files for the client’s workflow.

Base Color

Surface colour without lighting.

Roughness

How matte or glossy the material appears.

Normal

Small-scale surface orientation.

Displacement

Geometric height and relief.

Alpha

Selection and masking information.

Opacity

Material transparency.

Metalness

Metallic or dielectric behaviour.

3D Depth

Measured surface depth data.

Glossiness

Specular response for compatible workflows.
